This task pushed us to think in an abstract and creative manner using a different material, tape, to create a piece of work to represent a "Great Escape", the overall theme of the brief.

As a team, we chose to "escape" to/from the digital world and focused on visualising the emotional response each one of us had to it. Taking inspiration from the displays of frontal plane sections of the human body and from studies the brain's reactions to different emotions, illuminating different areas of it, we created a nervous system-like base with tape on a sheet of acetate, plus an emotion each, also with tape on acetate, depending on how we felt about the digital escape. Each emotion was asigned a different colour and shape (eg. yellow triangles as anxiety, sharp and bright). The layers were then overlayed as if they were all slices of one single entity, with the positive one at the front, the more neutral one in the middle, and the negative one at the back.

I finished this task by making a series of images/posters of each one of the emotions in a way that you are drawn in to navigate the depths of the emotions.
