After learning the in's and out's of the formal elements of art and the design process, with special emphasis in the research stages and in composition, we were tasked to produce a painting in a medium of our choice of the "English Riviera" (of Southend-on-Sea).

Having to look past standard compositions, we were introduced to the work of artists, like Paul Alcock amongst others, whose works often depict images of the non-common, overlooked (call it ugly if you wish) side of things, like the underside of a bridge, or a Jetty in my case :)
